“FROM SKILLS TO EARNINGS” – HANDWASH-MAKING WORKSHOP The Department of Chemistry, Maulana Azad College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Chh. Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad) organised a workshop on “From Skills to Earnings” – Handwash Making on 5 October 2026, under the guidance of the Principal, Dr. Maqdoom Farooqui. The workshop was inaugurated at the auspicious hands of Principal Sir. In his presidential address, he emphasised the importance of “earning while learning” and encouraged students to acquire practical skills to become self-reliant, independent and capable of creating their own earning opportunities. He appreciated the Department of Chemistry for undertaking such a meaningful and innovative activity and highlighted the importance of converting knowledge and skills into opportunities for livelihood and entrepreneurship. A total of 38 students registered for the workshop and successfully learned the preparation of different varieties of handwash, including Aloe Vera & Neem, Orange, Lavender and Lemon. The hands-on training provided students with a valuable practical skill and introduced them to the possibility of developing it as an income-generating activity. The workshop was convened by Prof. Syed Ummul Khair Asema and coordinated by Dr. Shazia Mirza. Prof. J. D. Shaikh, IQAC Coordinator, and Prof. Arif Pathan, Vice Principal and HOD, Department of Chemistry, were also present and encouraged the students. All UG and PG Chemistry faculty members attended the programme. As a follow-up activity, the handwash prepared by the students will be put on sale on 6 October 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Department of Chemistry. Students and staff are invited to visit the department and support the initiative by purchasing the herbal and safe handwash products prepared by the students. The workshop successfully promoted skill development, entrepreneurship, self-reliance and the concept of earning while learning.
