Characters: Simple, erect, branched, annual herbs, stem and branches patently hairy, leaves 3 – foliolate, petioles, grooved, stipules, lanceolate, leaflets obovate, cuneate at base. Flowers sessile axillary, solitary in pairs, corolla white or pale yellow, pods linear, straight or slightly curved, long beaked, seeds oblong, angular, brownish yellow.
Cultivated throughout the district as a leafy vegetable and for seeds used in cooking.

General use: Leaves and seeds used as vegetable. Medicinal use – Infusion of seed is given in small pox and in fever as coolent. Seeds are used as tonic, antirheumatic, purgative and as spice and condiment. Seeds are carminative, aphrodisiac and used for dysentery.

Veterinary use: Seeds paste or powder used for urine disorders, appetiser and for loose motion.
