Characters: Semi parasitic shrubs, bark grey, smooth branches glabrous. Leaves usually opposite, thick coriaceous, variable in shape, ovate – elliptic. Flowers in axillary, solitary or paired, unilateral racemes, corolla scarlet, split at the back, tube curved, reflexed. Anthers linear. Fruits exllipsoid, red or pink, crowned by a cup-shaped calyx. Seed actuate to the pericarp.
 Common on Boswellia serrata Roxb.

General use: Fruits and seeds are edible, shoot tannin for making soft leather and finishing stuffs.

Medicinal use: Plant astringent, narcotic, useful in menstrual disorder, remedy for consummation, asthma, mania, substitute for betelnut. Bark is narcotic and astringent, whole plant is used as brain tonic on paralysis. Stem is used on headache and wounds. Root is used on skin diseases.

Veterinary use: Bark is used for astring, Narcotic, Mania and wounds. Leaves used in urinary, disorders, whole plant is used in abdominal pain, bone fracture, seeds used in constipation.
