Characters: Large shrub or small tree3-5 m tall with thorns, leaves broadly elliptic 3 nerved , many flowered, sub-umbellate cymes, petals greenish spathulate, fruits drupes ellipsoid.
General use: It is a multi-purpose tree mainly grown for its fruits. It is edible and can be eaten fresh, dried like dates, candyied, salted or pickled, good source of carotene, vitamins A and C, and fatty oils.
